Many businesses offer their employees an opportunity to volunteer in work time.
This is sometimes known as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Social Value or Employer Supported Volunteering. Volunteering individually or as a team can be a great way to support your local community and give your employees a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Many businesses share their time and skills with a charity through a team away day or team building experience with colleagues.

Here at The Kirkwood we provide a range of care and support aimed at improving the lives of people affected by any life-limiting illness in our local communities. We are extremely fortunate to have the support and commitment of over 800 dedicated volunteers who work alongside staff in a variety of roles and departments. The Kirkwood Team work tirelessly to support people to improve their quality of life; remain as independent as possible; and maintain their dignity until the very end. Families and loved-ones are also supported during the illness and in bereavement.
We couldn’t do what we do without our loyal volunteers! We’d love to hear from you if you can spare some of your time to help Kirkwood care and extend its reach to others that could benefit from the services we provide.
Join our small gardening team to help us keep the hospice garden looking beautiful all year round for our patients and family members to enjoy. Teams can join us on a Monday or Thursday from March through to the end of November.
Tasks will be dependent on the time of year but could include planting bulbs, raking leaves, weeding and general garden maintenance.
