Tackling illegal tobacco in your community: Free information and training for community groups

Free information and training for frontline workers, schools, colleges and other community groups
The sale of illegal tobacco and vapes is a serious and ongoing issue across Kirklees. It makes these products accessible to under 18s, exacerbates health inqualities and supports serious organised crime such as modern day slavery and human trafficking.
By raising awareness and helping people to spot the signs of illegal tobacco use and sales, we can tackle the problem in our communities together.
The Illicit Tobacco Education Officer from West Yorkshire Training Standards is offering free training sessions covering what illegal tobacco is, how to spot it being sold and how to help stop it. General information on the dangers of smoking is included as well as advice around underage vaping (if required).
Information can be provided in person or online, in the form of presentations, smaller group discussion sessions, or staff training, depending on your requirements. Presentations usually last around 30 minutes but timings can be adjusted as needed.
Our Officer can also run a 'pop-up' stall or drop-in session or simply come for an informal chat.
