FREE Active Bystander training for your organisation
TSL members Freedom Personal Safety (FPS) are offering How To Be An Active Bystander training to community groups, charities and businesses across Kirklees.
The 2-hour course provides a better understanding of public sexual harassment and what we can do if we witness this behaviour. Building on their successful training delivery of active bystander training to organisations in Trafford as part of Right To The Streets, Julie from FPS said ‘The response to the training we delivered in Trafford was fantastic and, as a Slaithwaite resident, I was keen to bring this to Kirklees too. Since we established FPS 15 years ago, we have focused on ending violence against women and girls and empowering them to take up their place in public spaces and feel strong and empowered. We have worked with men and boys too exploring healthy relationships, respect and the impact of gender inequality on everyone. With this course we are able to give everyone practical tips on how to be an ally and support someone who is being harassed. If individuals across our communities can make a small shift from doing nothing to doing something, it makes our public spaces feel safer – after all, there is more good in the world than bad’.
After running courses with Manchester United Foundation, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Transport for Greater Manchester, Trafford Domestic Abuse Service and school nurses, Designated Safeguarding Leads and community groups across Trafford, FPS secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (Safe and Inclusive Fund) and are keen to run training with large and small organisations in our area.
This course is suitable for anyone aged 16+ and a train the trainer option is also available for school staff, HR/Training managers. If you would like to book a course or want more information, please email julie@freedompersonalsafety.co.uk.
