The Big Help Out - Funding for Taster Activities

The Big Help Out is returning this year and will take place at the end of Volunteers’ Week from Friday 7th – Sunday 9th June. The aim of this high profile national campaign is to offer taster activities that can encourage new people into volunteering.

We would like to support three taster activities across Kirklees during The Big Help Out and can offer £250 per organisation to contribute to the costs of running a taster event including materials and refreshments.

What could a taster event look like?

It could be a practical activity for example…

  • If you are a gardening group you could organise a litter pick or seed planting session.
  • If you run activity groups with people you could organise an activity to help prepare for your groups such as putting together information packs, preparing craft materials etc.
  • If you are looking for retail volunteers then you could offer a clothes sorting team session.

If it would be difficult for you to deliver a practical activity it could be more of an information session for example…

  • A coffee and cake information session where people can meet your current volunteers and find out about your organisation and how volunteers can get involved.
