About the Organisation

Revive Leeds Community Interest Company (CIC) was set up in November 2010 as a
partnership by 3 local organisations, Emmaus Leeds, a charity helping the homeless, St Vincent
De Paul (SVP), a charity helping alleviate poverty and South Leeds Alternative Trading
Enterprise, (SLATE) a charity support people with learning disabilities. Since then, the
structure has changed slightly, though we continue to support SVP and SLATE. Any year-end
financial surplus is divided between our member charities to assist them in continuing to
provide quality services to their own specific client groups.

In a joint venture, with Leeds City Council, Revive Leeds set up a new re-use shop on the East
Leeds Household waste site designed to catch and divert waste headed for the landfill. We
finally realised our vision and opened our doors to the general public in August 2011.

Mission
To become the number 1 household waste site shop in England, providing work and
volunteering opportunities for people from socially excluded backgrounds.
Objectives
• To reduce the amount of waste going to landfill
• To educate the community about reuse and recycling
• To provide employment and volunteering opportunities for people from socially
excluded backgrounds
• To work with the Leeds Furniture Reuse Group therefore helping to alleviate poverty
and hardship
• To become financially sustainable

The values of Revive Leeds are: -

Respect for ourselves and others
Pride In everything that we do
Solidarity helping those in need
Empowerment having a “can do” attitude
Professionalism a first-class customer service

furniture, clothes, bric a brac, electricals, household goods and books.

Our team consists of paid employees and volunteers, supported by board of trustees that
supports them and works closely with the Operational Manager and Site Supervisors. The team currently consists of
around 53 paid full and part-time staff and 35 volunteers across the four sites.
We have good working relationships with various colleges and universities and regularly
provide work placements for their students, some of whom have learning difficulties. As a
result of this partnership working, Revive Leeds won the Furniture Re-Use Network award for
Innovation in 2017 for work done with Business Studies students from Huddersfield
University. We also runners up in the Leeds City Council award for Partner of the Year. In 2021
