S2R, Support to Recovery is an independent mental health and wellbeing charity, We provide support for adults and families across Kirklees using a range of Nature based and creative activities underpinned by mindful practice and the understanding our wellbeing. We aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing to people in our community by offering a wide range of opportunities indoors and out for people to get creative, build social connections, learn new skills, improve their wellbeing and discover nature. Our workshops and courses include aromatherapy, gardening, sewing, arts and crafts, physical activity and understanding mental health, all delivered in safe and small groups in friendly environments. S2R also provides opportunities to engage remotely using videos, wellbeing guides, social media interactions and online workshops.
S2R’s The Great Outdoors project is looking for someone with experience in horticulture and an interest in supporting people to help their Staff team facilitate a growing project at Cemetery Road Allotments in Birkby, Huddersfield. You will volunteer alongside our experienced staff and help ensure that participants are safe and benefitting from outdoor activities for their wellbeing. Participants might be any adult in Kirklees who wants to learn about allotment growing and some will be engaging specifically as a way to help them manage their mental health.
S2R are always keen to draw on our facilitators Skills and passions so we encourage you to bring your ideas as well as your labour and skills to the role.
The volunteer will be fully supported with training given and travel expenses will be refundable in accordance with our policies.
The role is every Wednesday 11:00am until 2:00 pm
If you are unsure if you are ready to volunteer then book onto a session and joint the team for a week or two to see if its for you first.
please note there are no toilet facilities at this location and it is not disability accessible.
