Auntie Pam’s Supporting Parents to be is a peer support volunteer run service based in Dewsbury and Huddersfield. We provide a range of services, including a drop-in information and signposting service (covering things like housing, benefits, domestic violence, healthy eating, mental health, breastfeeding, stopping smoking and baby/child development). We also have a swap shop which provides free pre-loved baby clothing and equipment, which has kindly been donated by families within the local communities. Auntie Pam’s is a customer led service, and has at its heart the women and families of Kirklees. We support women, their partners and their families during pregnancy and the first years of becoming a parent.
As a Meet and Greet Volunteer you will be first point of contact for women and their families
using the Auntie Pam’s service.
Your main tasks will be:-
• Meeting and greeting clients and their families
• Making refreshments
• Keeping the Centre clean and tidy
• Answering the telephone and taking messages
• Maintaining confidentiality
These tasks are not all that you will be doing, however, it is up to you how you wish to
develop your own role as a Meet and Greet Volunteer in Auntie Pam’s.
You can also help organise our swap shop which provides free pre-loved baby clothing and equipment, which has kindly been donated by families within the local communities.
You should:-
• Live in the Kirklees area
• Have good communication skills
• Understand the importance of confidentiality
• Be friendly and approachable
• Be non-judgemental
• Be able to empathise with others
• Be able to work as part of a small team as well as on your own
We will provide you with:-
• Full training to undertake the role of a Meet and Greet Volunteer, which will include:-
o Safeguarding
o Confidentiality
o Health and safety
o Communication skills
• Reimbursement for travel
• Opportunities for free training and qualifications
• Uniform and identification as an Auntie Pam’s Volunteer
Auntie Pam’s centre in Huddersfield Town Centre a is open Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday 10am until 3pm.
An enhanced DBS Check will be undertaken before you can volunteer – costs are met by
Auntie Pam’s.
