Kirklees Libraries are increasing reading and literacy, improving digital access and literacy, supporting everyone to achieve their full potential, supporting everyone to live healthier and happier lives, enabling greater prosperity, building stronger more resilient communities, offering everyone access to culture and the opportunity to be creative. Volunteering opportunities are varied and include storytelling, supporting events, helping with crafts, gardening, running Lego and code clubs, admin role e.g. secretary, chair and planning rotas for Friends of groups and many more. If you want to make new friends, get out and keep active, support your community or gain new skills we have something for you.
We are looking to recruit two volunteers to deliver the community café at Slaithwaite Library. We usually welcome 20-30 people to the library each Thursday, the café provides a vital role in bringing people together to socialise, make new friends and enjoy a warm meal.
In the library you maybe
Setting up tables and chairs and then clearing them away after the café
- Preparing teas and Coffee
- Warming up and serving refreshments
- Collecting food from the local shop
- Cleaning the kitchen and food service areas
- Adhering to regulation for food safety as per public regulations
- Cash Handling
