The Kirklees Dementia Hub is a partnership between Community Links and Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees and offers information and advice for people who are living with dementia and their carers, family and friends.
The aim is to ensure people within the Kirklees community have access to a wide range of dementia information and advice.
Kirklees Dementia hub facilitate the ‘Thursday Group’ which is a social group for people diagnosed with dementia under the age of 65 which is referred to as early on-set dementia. The group is run in partnership with Hoot (creative arts service)
As a volunteer you will be assisting the group facilitator other volunteers and those who attend the group.
The group runs weekly each Thursday between 1pm till 3pm and meet at Brian Jackson House in Huddersfield town centre.
The group participate in weekly activities such as yoga, quiz’s, creative arts and day trips and much more.
Main Tasks
- Helping to set up the room and tidy away after the group.
- Escorting clients to and from transport
- Assisting group participation
- Be welcoming
- Engage with people who have dementia

- DBS (criminal record check that the organisation will organise)
Someone who has knowledge of dementia is desirable or wanting to pursue a career supporting people with dementia
