This is an interactive introductory workshop designed to build confidence in the basics of bid writing and funding applications.

This practical session will guide participants through the key elements of putting together a strong bid, using real examples, tools, and guided exercises. We’ll explore how to make your application stand out, common reasons bids fail, and what funders are really looking for.

Participants will learn how to identify and select suitable funders, understand how to be ‘funder ready’ and create an effective ‘toolbox’ to support future applications. We’ll also look at how to clearly answer application questions, build a basic project budget, and understand the importance of monitoring and evaluation.

The session will also cover how to keep funders engaged, how to manage communication and media considerations, and what to do when things don’t go as planned.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a clearer understanding of the bid writing process and practical tools to help you take the next steps with confidence.

Please note: If you attended the Bid writing masterclass (two related sessions taking place 30th June and 7th July 2026), then you should not attend this workshop. This is due to the close nature of the content and therefore you may find it repetitive.

This workshop is for VCSE organisations only based in Kirklees and 35 seats maximum are available. These will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
