Ten Kirklees Schools Launch Year-Long Food Growing Project with Grow to School

Ten primary schools in Kirklees have been awarded £2500 each in funding to work with Grow to School CIC to develop food growing and outdoor learning, made possible by the Edina Trust.
The successful schools are Moorlands Primary School, St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, Field Lane J I & N School, Lowerhouses CE Primary School, St Thomas CE Primary School, Mount Pleasant Primary School, Thornhill Lees CE School, Fieldhead Primary School, Bywell CE Junior School and Hanging Heaton J&I School.
Grow To School will work with pupils and staff from one year group at each school and help them set up a thriving, nature rich food growing and outdoor learning environment. The schools will use the Growbag Max Toolkit with expert in-school support from the Grow to School team.
The Growbag Max is a year-long programme for KS1, KS2 and SEND/SEMH, linked to the primary Science curriculum, which includes everything needed to develop practical gardening skills, support and develop outdoor learning opportunities and allow children to connect with nature.
The Edina Trust provides grants to primary schools across the UK to support science. This targeted funding ensures that all ten schools receive the necessary tools and structured support to maintain their outdoor spaces for the duration of the academic year and beyond.
