Role Description

Do you have the strategic vision and passion to help us support thousands of unpaid carers?

Carers Trust Mid Yorkshire (CTMY) is a leading local charity dedicated to transforming the lives of unpaid carers. With over 35 years of experience in the community, we provide essential respite care, support, and breaks to families across Kirklees, Wakefield, Leeds, and Calderdale, with our office based in Huddersfield.

As our organisation grows, we are seeking to strengthen our board with new Trustees who share our commitment to compassion, quality, and community.

The Role

This is a voluntary, strategic governance role, not an operational one. As a trustee, you will:

  • Shape the Future: Work with the Board to set strategic direction, policy, and goals.
  • Ensure Good Governance: Ensure CTMY complies with legal, charity, and CQC requirements.
  • Support the Executive Team: Provide strategic guidance and constructive challenge to our CEO and senior management.
  • Be a Passionate Advocate: Promote our vision, values, and work to raise our profile.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for friendly, passionate people to join our diverse board. You do not need previous trustee experience—we welcome fresh perspectives. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with skills in:

  • Charity Governance
  • Marketing / Brand Development
  • Digital Transformation
  • Human Resources (HR)
  • Legal & Compliance

We actively welcome applications from all backgrounds, including carers, disabled people, and those from ethnic minority communities, to ensure our board reflects the diversity of the community we serve.

What You Will Gain

  • Impact: See your professional skills directly benefit local carers and their families.
  • Development: Gain invaluable high-level board experience and leadership skills.
  • Networking: Build meaningful relationships with committed professionals and local leaders.

Time Commitment & Location

  • Commitment: Approximately 5–10 hours per month.
  • Meetings: Bi-monthly Board meetings.
  • Location: Hybrid, with meetings held in the Mid Yorkshire area.
