- Anywhere in Kirklees
- Flexible
Home-Start Kirklees is a local charitable organisation that has been supporting families with young children across Kirklees for over 26 years. We work alongside families with children from birth until they start school, providing emotional and practical support at a time when many parents are facing challenges such as isolation, poor mental health, financial pressures, low confidence, or a lack of support networks.
We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life, and that every parent should have someone to turn to when family life becomes difficult. That's why our trained volunteers and experienced staff work side-by-side with families, helping them build confidence, develop resilience, and create positive, nurturing home environments where children can thrive.
Our support is tailored to each family's individual circumstances. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. We listen to families, focus on their strengths, and provide the support they tell us they need in a way that is compassionate, non-judgemental and confidential.
At the heart of our work are our incredible volunteers. Through weekly home visits and community-based support, our volunteers offer friendship, encouragement and practical help to families who may be struggling. By being a consistent and trusted source of support, volunteers help reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, strengthen parenting confidence and empower families to move forward with greater independence and hope for the future.
Would you like to help a local charity that supports families and young children? Do you need a volunteer role that is flexible, based on your availability and really makes a difference? Would you like to be involved with Home-Start Kirklees and find out what we are all about without a high level of commitment or working directly with parents? This role could be for you.
We are looking for volunteer drivers to support staff with delivering resources across Kirklees. In this role you will be collecting resources from our office near central Huddersfield and delivering them to community centres, pre-schools and nurseries (mostly based in Dewsbury, Batley and Cleckheaton). This role is part of our Oral Health Project and you will make a huge impact on this small team. You only need to commit to a few hours, and it can from as little as once a month to once to a week.
For this role you will need access to your own vehicle which you would be required to use. All out of pocket expenses would be paid including all mileage accrued during your volunteering role and parking. There is short in-person induction to complete as part of this role. You can choose to do more volunteering in future if you wish.
You will become part of our team of amazing volunteers who support families in need of help and support.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch for a friendly, informal chat with no obligation to find out more about becoming a Home-Start Kirklees Volunteer. Alternativity, if this role isn't quite right for you, but you would like to know about other low commitment volunteering roles with Home-Start, get in touch.
