Community crowdfunding programme, delivered in partnership with Spacehive, is back for its Autumn 2026 Round – and we want to hear from communities across Kirklees.

Growing Great Places helps local people turn great ideas into action. We can support community groups, charities, social enterprises and local residents through the crowdfunding process – from developing your idea and planning your project to raising funds and making it happen.

People make places great. We know that local places really matter to our citizens. Our towns, villages and communities are the strength of Kirklees. So we started Growing Great Places, our community crowdfunding programme, to support citizens and organisations who have great ideas for making our local places even better.

The council has three funds available as part of this programme:

• Growing Great Places fund - projects could receive a pledge of up to £5,000 (up to 50% of campaign target)
• Public Health Improvement fund - projects with a focus on health and wellbeing could receive a pledge up to £5,000 (up to 50% of campaign target).
• Batley Community Events fund -  projects within the Batley wards could receive a pledge of up to £3,500 (up to 70% of campaign target)

Key dates - Current funding round 

Projects need to apply by the funding round deadline so that the council can review the projects and decide which ones they want to support.

• 22 October 2026: Last day to apply for this round of council funding.
• Early-November 2026: Projects are reviewed by the council for pledges.
• Mid-November 2026: Pledges are made onto crowdfunding campaigns.
• Mid-December 2026: Crowdfunding campaigns reach their target and funds are transfered before the end of the year.

NEW THIS ROUND – £45,000 Public Health Funding Pot
There is £45,000 of new funding available for projects that will make a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing.

So, if you have an idea that could help create healthier, happier and more connected communities, this could be an opportunity to turn your idea into reality and seek a pledge of up to £5k.
