TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

We’re a Community Foundation for Kirklees. This means we do things a little differently. We use our community connections to identify local need through community engagement, relationship-building and collaboration. Then distribute core funding and project funding to local charities and community organisations.
We’re a member of UK Community Foundations – a group of charities, just like us, who use place-based funding to distribute local grants. Our network distributes £77 million of funding annually and together has Endowment Funds worth over £580 million. All members are accredited by the United Kingdom Community Foundations and approved by the Charity Commission.
We’re proudly independent. On a mission to do good. Using our community connections to make sure every donation makes the most impact.

Help make a difference across Kirklees!
Do you want to use your time and skills to make a positive difference in your local community?
One Community Foundation is looking for enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to join us in connecting people who care with causes that matter across Kirklees.
We're offering a range of volunteering opportunities to suit different interests, skills and experience. Whether you enjoy meeting people, supporting projects behind the scenes, sharing stories or helping things run smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.
What could you get involved in?
Depending on your interests and strengths, you could support us in one or more of the following areas:
- Grants and administration: Help process grant applications, maintain accurate records and databases, and support the monitoring of funded projects.
- Community outreach and visits: Help us connect with local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups, visit projects and learn more about the difference they make.
- Communication and information: Help respond to general funding queries and ensure local groups can access information about funding opportunities.
- Marketing and communications: Support newsletters, social media and other activities that raise awareness of our work and the opportunities available to local groups.
- Stories and impact: Help gather community stories and prepare case studies, reports and summaries that showcase the difference local funding makes.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for people who are approachable, reliable, organised and passionate about supporting local communities. You don't need previous experience in grant-making or the charity sector – just a willingness to learn, work as part of a team and make a difference.
We welcome people with a variety of skills, backgrounds and experiences. We'll work with you to find an opportunity that suits your interests and the time you can offer.
What will you gain?
Volunteering with One Community Foundation is an opportunity to:
- Develop new skills and build valuable experience.
- Meet people and organisations making a difference across Kirklees.
- Gain insight into the charity, voluntary and community sector.
- Be part of a friendly team working to strengthen local communities.
- See first-hand how generosity and local action can create lasting change.
Ready to get involved?
If you'd like to share your time, skills and enthusiasm with One Community Foundation, we'd love to hear from you.
Together, we can help communities thrive across Kirklees.
