Purpose of the Role

To support Growing Works with day-to-day administrative tasks that help the organisation run smoothly and communicate clearly with volunteers, participants, partners and supporters. This role helps free up staff time so the team can focus on delivering activities and supporting people in the community.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

·        Help with basic office administration, such as organising documents, updating records and keeping information accurate.

·        Support email, phone or written communication where appropriate, following agreed guidance from staff.

·        Assist with preparing, printing, scanning or filing paperwork for activities, events, meetings or volunteer sessions.

·        Help maintain contact lists, registers, forms and spreadsheets.

·        Support with arranging meetings, taking simple notes, booking rooms or helping prepare resources.

·        Contribute to keeping shared admin systems tidy, accessible and up to date.

·        Follow confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding procedures at all times.

·        Prepare promotional material like posters and flyers.

Skills, Qualities & Experience Needed

·        Friendly, reliable and organised.

·        Comfortable with basic computer tasks such as email, Word documents or spreadsheets, PowerPoint or willing to learn.

·        Good attention to detail and able to follow instructions.

·        Able to handle information sensitively and maintain confidentiality.

·        Good written and verbal communication skills.

·        An interest in supporting Growing Works’ community, wellbeing and nature-based work.

·        You will need access to a computer / laptop with up to date windows as we are cloud based.

Time Commitment

Flexible, usually around 4 hours per week or more, depending on availability and organisational need. Days and times can be agreed with the volunteer coordinator or relevant staff member.

Location

Growing Works staff work remotely but we do have access to office space in Huddersfield.

Training & Support

Volunteers will receive an induction, role-specific guidance and ongoing support from a named staff member. Training will include relevant organisational procedures, confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding awareness and use of any systems needed for the role.

Expenses

Reasonable agreed out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Growing Works’ volunteer expenses policy.

Safeguarding & Checks

All volunteers are expected to follow Growing Works’ safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection procedures. A DBS check may be required depending on the nature of the tasks, level of access to information and whether the volunteer has contact with children, young people or adults at risk.

Boundaries & Expectations

·        Work within the agreed role description and ask for support when unsure.

·        Maintain confidentiality and handle personal or sensitive information carefully.

·        Represent Growing Works in a friendly, respectful and inclusive way.

·        Let staff know if unable to attend an agreed volunteering session.

·        Do not give advice, make commitments or share information on behalf of Growing Works unless agreed with staff.

Purpose of the Role

Our tiny team has big ideas. We want Growing Works to reach the people of Kirklees so they can access our activities, donate to our charity to keep our services going and support the longevity of our work.

As a social seed sower you will support Growing Works in telling its story online by creating engaging, uplifting, and informative social media content that reflects our new brand identity and helps us reach more people who can benefit from or support our work.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Create and schedule social media posts across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok depending on skills)
Capture or curate photos, videos, and stories from sessions, events, and the Growing Works community
Help maintain a consistent tone of voice and visual style aligned with our new brand identity
Respond to comments and messages in a friendly, supportive manner (where appropriate)
Support campaign planning for events, fundraising, and awareness weeks
Monitor engagement and suggest ideas to improve reach and impact
Work closely with staff and volunteers to gather stories, updates, and content opportunities

Time Commitment

Flexible — ideally 2–4 hours per week, which can be done remotely.

Location
Most of our team are based in Huddersfield, but we cover Kirklees. We can meet via teams, google or zoom. We have use of an office in Huddersfield where we can meet in person.

Training & Support

You’ll be supported by the Growing Works team, with regular check-ins, access to brand guidelines, and opportunities to collaborate on campaigns and content.
