Role Description

In this role you will be helping people at Heckmondwike Library, with little or no English.  You will help people to learn English and get more involved in the wider community. Supporting people to improve their English is a rewarding yet challenging experience. Focusing on the things people need to do in their everyday lives, such as going shopping, using public transport, and going to the doctors, you will help learners to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as their confidence.

For this role you will need to be enthusiastic, friendly and organised. You do not need to speak an additional language.

The role may involve:

  • supporting staff and delivering events
  • preparing resources for the event including photocopying and setting up displays
  • Meeting and greeting customers
  • Recording names and numbers of people attending an event
  • Tidying and evaluating the sessions.

An induction to the role and appropriate training will be provided. We can offer travel expenses if you are required to attend any training so you it will be ideal if you live near the library.

You will become part of a friendly and dedicated team and have an opportunity to meet new people and gain experience for your CV.
