Friends of Norman Park is a voluntary group helping to take care of the park for the community and wildlife to enjoy. We have regular work days in park, including litter picks, making habitat homes, gardening and more. We organise regular seasonal events for the community throughout the year.
Norman Park is a community park located on Norman Road in Birkby. We are looking for more 'Friends' to join our voluntary group and help out in anyway. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and support your local park. Whether you enjoy practical tasks outdoors, or prefer helping with organising events or admin duties from home.
Role of Friends of Norman Park...
- provide a forum for the community to share their views about the Park
- actively work for facility improvements in the Park
- encourage the different local communities to become involved in the life of the Park
- promote a positive image for the Park
- protect and enhance the habitat of the Park for the benefit of the natural environment and wildlife
Whats involved as a Friend...
- quarterly meetings in person and discussions through email and WhatsApp
- helping with community events and activities - sports, culture, heritage, art, food, music, nature
- environmental tasks - gardening, litter picking
- marketing and promoting - photos, Facebook, posters
Days and hours...
- we are very flexible
- meetings and activities are either evenings or weekends
- roughly 1-2 days a month
