About the Organisation

Revive Reuse CIC is a Social Enterprise, or Community Interest Company, set up in 2010. We work in partnership with Leeds City Council to help achieve their aim of Zero Waste Leeds. All of our profits are shared between our two member charities (SLATE and SVP) to support the work that they do in Leeds and across West Yorkshire.

Role Description

We are looking for Retail Volunteers at our Pass-It-On with Revive shop located at 64 Commercial Street, Batley, WF17 5DS.

As part of this role, volunteers will:

  • Sort and prepare donated items such as clothing and textiles, books and DVDs, records, bric-a-brac, toys and games, small electricals and small furniture, for selling in the store.
  • Use displaying and merchandising skills to create a visually stimulating shopping experience for customers.
  • Provide excellent customer service skills to assist and enhance our customers with their shopping and donation experience
  • Keep all areas of the shop safe, clean and tidy.

Benefits of the role:

For many people, volunteering is about giving something back to a charity that has helped them, but there are other ways that it can help you. Some of these include:

  • Socialising - you will meet a new set of people, passionate about the work Revive Reuse conducts.
  • Interpersonal Communication Skills - interacting with customers and staff will be part of your daily routine when volunteering with Revive. This give you the opportunity to greatly improve your communication skills and confidence in a friendly work environment.
  • Work Experience - you will get first hand experience in the world of work, great for developing skills needed in the workplace and great experience for pursing future careers.
  • Supporting the Local Community - a big part of volunteering is to benefit your local community and giving back.
  • Fun - importantly, volunteering is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. For many people it gives them something to do in their spare time which is both important and gratifying.

What training will I get?

You will receive basic training and an introduction to our shop site. This will include our health and safety and policies and procedures. We also often give all our volunteers the opportunity to apply for courses. These courses could be anything from Health & Safety, First Aid and PAT (Portable Appliance Testing).
