Aphasia Support in a Yorkshire based charity that helps people with aphasia. Aphasia can follow a stroke or brain injury and the condition not only affects a person’s ability to speak and/or comprehend, it can also have a devastating impact on other aspects of their life. We specialise in using computer therapy to support people with aphasia and we also organise aphasia cafes across Yorkshire.
We offer a person-centric approach to our support placing the emphasis on working on improving the skills that our client has identified as being the priority. We aim to develop strong bonds of friendship enabling us to encourage and motivate our clients to work towards their goals. We provide long term one to one support in a person’s own home using specialist aphasia software to help people regain confidence, improve upon skills of language and communication, lose their feeling of isolation and get back into the wider community.
