Role Description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of people who use care and support services?

Carers Trust Mid Yorkshire (CTMY) is a leading local charity dedicated to transforming the lives of unpaid carers. With over 35 years of experience in the community, we provide essential respite care, support, and breaks to families across Kirklees, Wakefield, Leeds, and Calderdale, with our office based in Huddersfield.

As our organisation grows, we are seeking to strengthen our board with new Trustees who share our commitment to compassion, quality, and community.

The Role

We are seeking committed and enthusiastic Trustees to join our Board and help provide strategic leadership, effective governance and oversight of our charity and its regulated homecare services.

As a Trustee, you will play an important role in ensuring that the organisation is well governed, financially sustainable and continues to provide safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care and support to the people we serve.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring professional experience, knowledge or skills in areas such as health and social care, finance, HR, marketing, business development, governance, quality assurance or charity leadership.

You will work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the senior leadership team, providing constructive challenge, strategic direction and appropriate oversight of the organisation's performance, risks, safeguarding, quality and regulatory responsibilities.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people who:

  • Share our commitment to improving the lives of people who receive care and support.
  • Are willing to contribute their knowledge, experience and professional expertise.
  • Can provide constructive challenge and support to the senior leadership team.
  • Understand the importance of safeguarding, quality, risk management and good governance.
  • Can act with integrity, independence and in the best interests of the charity.
  • Are able to commit the necessary time to Board meetings, preparation and relevant activities.

Previous experience as a Trustee is not essential. We welcome applications from people who have the skills, experience and commitment to make a meaningful contribution to our organisation.

Why become a Trustee?

This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and expertise to help shape the future of a charity delivering vital care and support services.

You will have the opportunity to influence our strategic direction, strengthen our governance and help ensure that the people who rely on our services continue to receive high-quality, person-centred care.

If you are committed, passionate and would like to use your experience to make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking to recruit the following trustees:

HR Trustee

We are looking for a Trustee with HR experience to help shape our people strategy, workforce planning, recruitment and retention, employee relations, organisational culture, staff wellbeing, learning and development, equality, diversity and inclusion, and employment governance. This is an exciting opportunity to use your HR expertise to support the organisation in developing and retaining a skilled, motivated and valued workforce.

Health & Social Care Trustee

We are looking for a Trustee with senior management experience in health and social care to provide valuable insight and strategic oversight of our regulated care services. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to support high-quality, person-centred care, safeguarding, quality assurance, CQC compliance, risk management, service development and effective leadership, helping to ensure the organisation continues to meet the needs of the people we support.

Marketing Trustee

We are looking for a Trustee with marketing, communications or business development experience to help strengthen our profile, reputation and engagement with the communities we serve. This is an opportunity to use your expertise to support our marketing strategy, communications, digital presence, stakeholder engagement, brand development and promotion of our services, helping to increase awareness of the charity and the difference we make.

Finance Trustee

We are looking for someone with a financial background to provide strategic oversight of our budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, investments, reporting, risk management and financial decision-making. This is a great opportunity to work closely with organisational leaders to support strong financial governance, sustainability and the long-term development of the charity.
