We are part of a national organisation which provides a 24/7 listening support service for anyone struggling to cope with life circumstances or their mental health. Our branch in Huddersfield is run and supported by over 80 volunteers spread between our branch building in Huddersfield town centre and our charity shop nearby. We work with our local communities to let people know we’re here for them and we campaign to make suicide prevention a priority.

We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic volunteer to help us raise vital funds to sustain the running of our branch in Huddersfield.

The role involves:

• Looking for sources of income in the local community
• Applying for grants
• Organising fundraising events

What difference could you make:
With the help of your input as fundraiser, we can maintain our branch building where our volunteers do their crucial work supporting people. We can ensure our volunteers have essential training and we can maintain a safe and accessible environment for all using the branch.

Fundraising also enables us to hold a variety of outreach events in our local community which are so important for raising awareness about what Samaritans do and making sure people know they can talk to us when they’re struggling.

Who we are looking for:

• An outgoing person who will enjoy building up relationships with local businesses and community.
• Someone with sound knowledge of or willingness to learn about Samaritans vision, mission and values is important.
• An excellent communicator, both oral and written.
• A natural networker, with an ability to create and maintain relationships with various organisations and bodies.
• Someone who is IT literate.
• A person with experience of fundraising would be helpful.
