Yorkshire Youth & Music (YY & M), the Huddersfield-based charity supporting young people who face barriers to music-making, has received a donation of acoustic panels from Autex Acoustics, alongside timber from Shaw Timber to mount the panels.
The panels have been installed across two rooms in YY & M’s Safe Space Studio – a dedicated music space in Huddersfield used by young people from across Kirklees. They will improve acoustic quality and reduce sound bleed between spaces, building on the professional-grade acoustic treatment across multiple parts of the studio.
“The Safe Space Studio at The Media Centre is a dedicated space where young people across Huddersfield and Kirklees can make music seriously, often for the first time. As a hub for our work across Yorkshire, improving the space means we can support more young people to use it, and do so more effectively. We’re really proud that this has come about through partnerships with local companies, and grateful to Autex Acoustics and Shaw Timber for investing in something that will benefit our community for years to come.”

“At Autex Acoustics, we believe everyone deserves access to spaces that nurture creativity, learning, and wellbeing through thoughtful acoustic design. We’re proud to support YY&M in transforming their studio into a more functional and inspiring environment for young people.
The new acoustic treatment will enhance sound quality, minimise noise transfer between rooms, and create a more professional setting for recording and rehearsal. Supporting projects that make a meaningful difference in local communities reflects our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and designing spaces that truly work for the people who use them.
A special thanks to Chelsea Hillam and Martin Cullimore, along with the rest of the Autex team, whose support and expertise helped bring this vision to life.”
