Kirklees Apprenticeships for All
Kirklees Apprenticeships for All (KAFA) is a new project part funded by the European Social Fund to ATTRACT, SUPPORT and GROW apprenticeships across the Kirklees Metropolitan District. Kirklees Council is the delivery lead, working with partners; Kirklees College, Kirklees Active Leisure, The University of Huddersfield, Thornton & Ross Ltd & Connect Housing Association and the project aims to support:
· Productivity growth through improved skills planning and enhanced apprenticeship take-up, particularly in our key employers and sectors.
· Inclusive growth, ensuring that our most disadvantaged residents can benefit and contribute to the economic growth, by taking up and progressing in apprenticeship opportunities, in turn helping to reduce employment and training gaps these groups face.
· Maximising the use of Apprenticeship Levy across the District, to increase skill levels and enable SMEs that may not currently offer apprenticeship to do so, thereby improving productivity particularly within supply chains
The KAFA project works with businesses in Kirklees to conduct a skills gap analysis and identify where they could be utilising Apprenticeships to upskill and develop their current workforce. Community Outreach activity to engage with employed residents across Kirklees will support them in their future career planning, specifically highlighting how Apprenticeships or Pre-Apprenticeship training could be the perfect route for them to upskill and progress within their current role. Along with this consultative approach the team will also deliver bespoke provision in terms of wrap around support; functional skills, coaching and mentoring, mental health and wellbeing support and IT & digital skills development. There is also an element of training available for supervisors and line managers of Apprentices too.
The team are already engaging with a number of local businesses across the area and have seen multiple participants start on their Apprenticeship journey. The KAFA team are enthusiastic, passionate and incredibly eager to get started making a big difference across the employment landscape of Kirklees.
