Take part in The Great Winter Get Together 2022!
The Great Winter Get Together celebrates community, people and the power of connection, and is an initiative of The Jo Cox Foundation. It is inspired by Jo’s work around loneliness and her words:
“I will not live in a country where thousands of people are living lonely lives, forgotten by the rest of us.”
This January, The Great Winter Get Together will take place across the last two weeks in January (17-30) – kicking off on ‘Blue Monday’ – and will make the most of that New Year spirit to bring people together and tackle the stigma of loneliness.
There are three calls to action, aimed at supporting people whatever their current level of comfort in talking about loneliness:
- Bring people together to talk about loneliness – Your Great Winter Get Together can be an in-person community event, or just a casual discussion – perhaps with those in a club you’re a part of, your neighbors or your colleagues at work.
- Reach out to someone in your life who you think might be lonely – whether that’s a friend, family member, or neighbour.
- Share your own experience with someone you trust.
This January’s Great Winter Get Together is an opportunity to celebrate the people, projects and organizations that have kept us connected this past year. The Jo Cox Foundation team with be active on Twitter throughout the campaign, sharing your wonderful examples and stories.
