#RoadAhead 2022 NCVO report: Key trends for charities this year
NCVO have published this year’s Road Ahead report – a review of the key forces and trends shaping our sector, and the opportunities and challenges they might present to organisations.
The analysis is grouped across six areas:
- Political | Building towards an election in 2023 or 2024, the continuation of the culture wars, levelling up, devolution, and challenges to campaigning.
- Economic | The big picture, a labour market in flux, government actions on spending/taxation, and new and shifting sources of income for charities.
- Social | Emerging inequalities and impact on charity service demand, changing public attitudes on social issues, the future of volunteering and participation, the role of charities in communities, and the future of work. Read more
- Technological | Digital transformation post covid, cyber security and the remote working environment, 5G wireless technology expanding access to artificial intelligence and machine learning, volunteer passports, blockchain, and social media.
- Environmental | Rise of political and public recognition, changing practices during the pandemic, the role of charities and civil society in climate change, charities and green levelling up, lessons from the pandemic and climate change, and the immediate needs of climate change mitigation.
- Legal | Progress of the charities bill, the legal impacts of covid-19, future legal reforms, and updates to governance guidance.
