The name for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services is changing
IAPT services will soon be known as NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression
IAPT services across England are being renamed to NHS Talking Therapies.
That means IAPT services provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust will soon be changing their names to:
- NHS Barnsley Talking Therapies
- NHS Calderdale Talking Therapies
- NHS Kirklees Talking Therapies
This will be accompanied with a tagline – ‘for anxiety and depression’. It is hoped this will make it easy to understand what the service is for, help people access the service, and support appropriate referrals. There will be no change to the way the service works.
To help distinguish between the two providers of talking therapies in Calderdale, the service may be known as NHS Calderdale Talking Therapies (South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) when it is not used alongside our Trust logo (i.e. on a third party website).
Further information will be available in coming weeks about a date for when they expect to change the service names. This will include a new website URL and details so you can update your channels and materials which may reference IAPT. This may include your website and patient information.
The move to rename IAPT to Talking Therapies follows a consultation run by NHS England in 2022.
