Shaping the Future of Healthcare: West Yorkshire's Role in the National NHS 10-Year Plan Engagement
Last month, the Government launched a nationwide engagement initiative to inform the development of the new 10-year NHS plan, set to be published next spring. This engagement aims to gather input from the public and healthcare staff to shape the future of healthcare in England.
In West Yorkshire, efforts are already underway to contribute to this vital conversation. Local healthcare teams will build on the extensive insight and feedback they’ve already collected, while also creating new opportunities for people across the region to share their thoughts. The goal is to ensure that every voice is heard, helping to inform the direction of the NHS over the next decade.
To support this, national engagement resources are being developed to enable consistent and targeted activities across different areas. These resources will be used to deliver briefings and workshops throughout West Yorkshire, working closely with local communications and involvement leads. These sessions will take place between November 2024 and January 2025, ensuring widespread participation.
West Yorkshire’s healthcare leaders are keen to maximise existing opportunities for public and staff engagement. Events such as patient group meetings, staff conferences, roadshows, and health promotion activities are ideal platforms to promote the engagement and gather valuable feedback. Local organisations are encouraged to share ideas for such opportunities by emailing wyicb-kirk.engagement@nhs.net.
The public and staff across West Yorkshire are strongly encouraged to get involved in this engagement initiative. Participation will not only ensure local voices are included but will also help shape a healthcare system that reflects the needs and aspirations of the communities it serves.
