Cook to Connect: The Power of Cooking and Sharing Good Food to Connect and Strengthen Communities
When: Wednesday 27th October (13.30 – 14.45)
Who: Anyone who is looking for new ways to support or organise good food activities in their community linked to cooking and/or sharing good food.

The session will focus on cooking and sharing food in a wide variety of ways, from cooking lessons through to cooking surplus food and sharing it, and will include:
- An update on the Get Togethers programme, with the latest opportunities.
- Jane Sixsmith, Head of Cooking Skills within the Soil Association will talk about the many benefits of cooking together along with examples showing how to achieve these benefits yourself.
- Donna Borokinni, an experienced Community Cook who works for the Glasgow Community Food Partnership has created a new resource – a guide to virtual cook alongs, covering everything you need to run your own cook along sessions digitally. The guide will be made available after the session.
- Jodie Griffith from Cultivate in Powys, Wales will talk about her (substantial) experience of running a variety of cooking and sharing activities in the local community along with top tips to make it work well.
- Breakout rooms – to connect with other attendees in small groups, to discuss ideas around all the different ways that cooking and sharing good food can benefit your community.
- Information about Cook & Share Month – a fantastic opportunity to join in with other people across the UK who are cooking and sharing food.
The session will be hosted on Microsoft Teams.
