Foundations for Grant Funding: A Practical Workshop for Not-for-Profits - Sponsored by: Yorkshire Mentoring CIC

Are you part of a charity, CIO or CIC and thinking about applying for grant funding — but not sure where to start, or how to strengthen your application?

This small, practical session is designed to support not-for-profit organisations to prepare for grant funding, build confidence, and understand what funders are really looking for.

Event details

Time: 10.30am – 13.00pm on Tuesday 14th July 2026
Venue: Bradley Park Community Centre, Bradley Park, Wilton Avenue, Huddersfield, HD2 1RS.
Cost: £5 per person
Spaces are limited to a maximum of five participants to ensure tailored support and plenty of opportunity for discussion.

What you’ll get from the session

  • Practical guidance on preparing for grant funding and general fundraising
  • Tips for your first grant application (or improving future ones)
  • Practical tasks to start preparing a grant application
  • Insight into the key information funders typically ask for
  • The opportunity to bring along a specific grant application you’re working on (optional but encouraged)
  • Information about a low-cost follow-up support session if you’d like additional help

A little about the facilitator

The session is led by Josie Armitage, who supports not-for-profit organisations with funding, strategy and development. Josie has extensive experience working alongside charities and community organisations, helping them clarify their story, strengthen funding bids and approach fundraising with confidence.
