Government Allocates £76 Million Support Package to Strengthen Charities and Community Organisations supporting Vulnerable People
Charities and community organisations supporting vulnerable individuals are set to benefit from a substantial £76 million government support package. This new fund, aimed at sustaining vital services, is now open for applications.
With the escalating demand for critical services, such as food provisions, emergency aid, shelter, safe spaces, warmth, and financial or housing advice, frontline charities and community organisations have been under immense pressure. This delivers on the Prime Minister’s commitment to support people with the cost of living and protect low-income households from rising costs.
Eligible organisations can apply for grants ranging from £10,000 to £75,000, which can cover both project and core costs, including rent, utilities, staff, and volunteers. The application period extends from now until the end of March 2024.
This funding is the first portion of a £101.5 million initiative, as announced by the Chancellor during the Spring Budget. Emphasising the importance of aiding small to medium-sized voluntary, community, or social enterprise organisations based in England, the Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund aims to make a significant impact.
Additionally, the remaining £25.5 million from the Budget allocation will be allocated to initiatives promoting the long-term energy and financial resilience of voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations.
Interested organisations have until 16th October 2023 to submit their applications. Further information on eligibility and the application process can be found on The National Lottery Community Fund website.
