Groundwork Yorkshire’s Retrofit Outreach Service

Groundwork Yorkshire is delivering a retrofit outreach service funded through the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) & the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ).

The project aims to engage hard to reach groups in what domestic retrofit is and to show the benefits. They have a dedicated retrofit advisor in each of the West Yorkshire districts-Leeds, Calderdale, Kirklees, Wakefield & Bradford.

Target groups:

  1. ESOL
  2. Elderly
  3. Offline
  4. Poor EPC rating (E & below)
  5. Living in Fuel poverty
  6. Hard to treat homes

Groundwork Yorkshire aims to engage by attending events, conducting talks/presentations & promoting the Groundwork Yorkshire Retrofit service.

The aims are to use the Retrofit Advisor as a point of contact for retrofit outreach and to learn why hard to reach groups are not currently engaging. Promoting correct advice and confidence will allow fuel poor households to engage in funding streams.

Funding can also cover training for retrofit community ambassadors to help solidify the retrofit benefits in specific communities.
