All Volunteering Roles

Born from one mum’s struggle to find the care her son needed, Forget Me Not is here to provide essential care to children with life-shortening conditions, their families and families living with the loss of their child across West Yorkshire.

Role Description:                       

We are looking for a volunteer to support our Holmfirth charity shop team in running the bridal suite. This role is ideal for someone with experience in sewing, alterations, dressmaking and/or bridalwear who can help to prepare donated dresses for sale.

Tasks & activities

• Carrying out simple sewing tasks, repairs and alterations where required, such as hems, buttons, minor seam repairs, and finishing touches.
• Helping to steam, prepare and present garments for display and trying on.
• Helping to create attractive occasionwear displays.
• Assisting the shop manager in running bridal suite appointments, fostering a warm, welcoming experience for the brides-to-be and their family and friends.

 
Personal qualities & experience

• Positive and reliable with a good eye for detail, garment quality and presentation.
• Good sewing skills and confidence using basic sewing techniques.
• Experience in bridalwear, dressmaking, tailoring and alterations would be highly desirable.
