Skills sharing

Accu (who specialise in supplying engineering components) have their head office in Huddersfield and contacted
Volunteering Kirklees hoping to do some volunteering with a local charity.

On the 23rd April 2019, three members of staff attended Richmond Fellowship (an organisation that supports people with mental health issues) and used their skills and expertise to deliver a job skills workshop which covered CV writing, job search and IT assistance. The session was a huge success.

If you are a Kirklees Business interested in a volunteering project (either as a one-off or on a regular basis) please contact: Sharron Wilkinson at Volunteering Kirklees sharron@tslkirklees.org.uk tel. 01484 519053.

How did it go?

Dannica Llong, Executive Administrator at Accu Limited said

“Attending the Richmond Fellowship workshop was such a positive and rewarding experience. My co-workers and I felt such joy helping people write CVs, find jobs, and to help people learn the ins and outs of IT. It’s amazing what a difference you can make in a short time, we felt extremely helpful and even managed to help a few people apply for jobs! We loved our time spent with Richmond Fellowship and we will definitely be visiting them again shortly!”

Karl from Richmond Fellowship commented

“The Job skill’s workshop was very successful and well received by the clients that attended. It covered areas such as CV writing, IT skills and interviewing tips. The feedback from attendees was universally positive with one of our clients who has been unemployed for a considerable length of time applying for a job with them.
I definitely look forward to doing similar workshops with ACCU and other  businesses in the future.”
