Community Energy Information Session

Communities explore ways to reduce energy costs, save funds, access funding and support local residents through energy action.
Community Energy Information Session
Community energy allows people and communities to take democratic control over their energy future, by understanding, generating, using, owning, and saving energy in their communities, as well as working together across regions and nationally.
Who will be in the room?
Energy Neighbours has partnered with Ashden, NE & Yorkshire Net Zero Hub, Energy for All and Kirklees Council, to bring you an information session on available opportunities.
Ashden - Local Power Potential (LPP) is a regional initiative supporting community groups in Yorkshire to develop grassroots renewable energy projects (like solar and wind) that generate wealth, lower energy bills, and boost green skills. Led by Ashden alongside the Northern Powergrid Foundation, the programme provides pre-feasibility support to local organisations.
The North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub - is part of a national network of Local Net Zero Hubs, funded and directed the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Great British Energy to help local areas and the communities they serve to develop and deliver the energy projects they need to meet local growth ambitions and national clean energy targets.
Energy for All - We help communities to set up and manage their own renewable energy co-operatives. These groups own a renewable energy asset like solar panels or wind turbines, they generate clean electricity which is then sold to:
- Combat climate change
- Earn the co-op members a fair return on their investment
- Generate profit which can be channelled back into the community
- Develop the co-operative, and eventually support other renewable energy co-ops across the UK
If you are interested in Community Energy, either now or in the future, come along and find out how you, your group or organisation can get involved.
