About the Organisation

Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust is a West Yorkshire based charity with a sixty-year legacy and BIG ambitions for the future. All children and young people deserve opportunities to help them realise their potential and our distinctive, high quality services are aimed at improving the lives of children and young people who face difficulty accessing mainstream services or are disadvantaged through poverty, illness or lack of physical and psychological safety. Over the years, we’ve helped thousands of families, educational and community organisations and, in doing so, have transformed young lives for the better.

Role Description

We're looking for volunteers to train as mentors for our Youth Mentoring Service. This is a highly rewarding role supporting children and young people aged 10 to 19 as they navigate challenges and work towards reaching their full potential.

You will need to be:

  • Over 18

  • Based in Kirklees or willing to travel

  • Able to spare 2 hours a week

We follow a safer recruitment process and all applicants will be required to complete an application form, attend an interview, provide references and go through DBS checks. Full training will be provided and, in role, you will be supported by our Volunteer co-ordinator.

The experience and skills developed in this volunteer role can support with looking for employment, accessing further education,  or the satisfaction and knowledge you are a part of something which continues to help young people navigate through today’s challenges.

On Wednesday 24th June 2026, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, we are hosting a Volunteer Celebration and Information Event in our beautiful Barn at Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust. The event is an opportunity to celebrate our current volunteers and recognise the fantastic work they do, while also welcoming anyone who would like to learn more about volunteering with us.
