'Speak with a Midwife' - campaign materials in community languages

  • Media

The West Yorkshire & Harrogate Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) have expanded their ‘Speak with a Midwife’ campaign, encouraging women to book with their midwife early in their pregnancy wherever possible (ideally before 10 weeks).

There have been numerous recent reports stating that women from disadvantaged backgrounds have poorer outcomes (including the most recent MBRRACE report published in October 2024). As a result of this, the ‘Speak with a Midwife’ early booking campaign materials are now available in four community languages:

  • Panjabi*
  • Polish
  • Romanian
  • Urdu*

(Digital versions can be accessed by visiting the comms page on the campaign website here.)

The new materials include:

  • Flyers
  • A4 posters
  • Business cards
  • Postcards

These are all available in each of the four languages listed above. If you would like printed copies, please contact gary.jevon2@nhs.net.

(* NB: these versions are Urdu (Pakistani Urdu) and Panjabi (Indian Punjabi). Based on the translation agency’s experience, Indian Punjabi and Pakistani Urdu are the most commonly spoken dialects in the region, hence why these were selected).
