Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund
Summary: Supports well‑planned, sustainable community tree‑planting projects that deliver clear benefits for people, communities and wildlife. Delivered by the Tree Council in partnership with Network Rail. Local authorities, charities and NGOs, community groups, education institutions, and individual landowners can apply. Projects must be not‑for‑profit.

Funding available: £2,500 to £10,000
Key requirements:

- Tree planting must be in publicly accessible, visible or community‑used spaces.
- Applicants must have public liability insurance, landowner permission, and an organisational bank account.
- Projects must include appropriate tree selection, a clear planting plan, and a commitment to maintain trees for at least three years.
What funding supports: A wide range of tree‑planting types (such as street trees, orchards, hedgerows and riparian planting), with a strong preference for UK‑sourced, native trees and robust establishment and aftercare arrangements.
Desirable features: Projects close to the rail network, contributions to climate resilience, youth involvement, partnerships, and use of sustainable materials are encouraged.
