BBC Children in Need: Project Grants and Core Grants
- Overview: Grants for project costs and core costs for not-for-profit organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people (up to 18 years old) with a priority for smaller, local organisations.
- Funding Available:
- £1,000–£40,000 per year for up to 3 years (max £120,000).
- Applications under £15,000/year get quicker decisions.
- Focus Areas (Strategic Outcomes):
- Preventing mental health issues – early intervention for social/emotional wellbeing (not crisis care).
- Alleviating poverty and deprivation – addressing its impact (not basic needs only).
- Reducing social inequity – support for marginalised groups (ethnicity, disability, gender, etc.).
- Addressing family-related challenges – support for young carers, care-experienced children, bereavement.
- Additional Supported Activities: Youth work, family support, early years play.
- Eligible Expenditure:
- Core Grants: core operational costs (admin, HR, office expenses, compliance, evaluation, etc.).
- Project Grants: awarded as restricted funding and will support the aims and delivery of a specific piece of work. This work will usually be time-limited and based on a defined set of activities.
