Bernard Sunley Foundation (Small and Large Grants)
- Overview: One-off capital grants are available to registered charities for projects in the areas of community, education, health and social welfare.
- Grant Sizes:
- Small: up to £5,000
- Medium: up to £20,000
- Large: £25,000 and above
- Match Funding: Grants are rarely more than 20% of the total budget. The foundation will very rarely fund the full costs (or even 50%) of a project or shortfall as it expects to be one of many contributors to a project.
- Eligible Themes:
- Community:
- Projects that foster belonging and social engagement.
- Includes churches (if benefiting the wider community), youth clubs, village halls, rescue services, etc.
- Health:
- Facilities for care and support (e.g., cancer, mental health, neurological conditions).
- Includes hospices, therapy gardens, and outdoor spaces.
- Social Welfare: Support for vulnerable groups (e.g., addiction recovery, homelessness, veterans, abuse victims).
- Education:
- Learning and life skills for disadvantaged or special needs children.
- Emphasis on outdoor learning and arts/music.
- Community:
