TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing team of passionate and dedicated volunteers, and we’re always on the look out for more fantastic people to join us!
Our volunteers are an integral part of our team, giving their time and enthusiasm to help us provide a great experience for our audiences. As a community focused charity, we encourage people from all walks of life to engage in the arts and get involved in our volunteering scheme. We are currently recruiting for new volunteers to join our team.
Volunteering at the Lawrence Batley Theatre not only helps our theatre to thrive, but is a great way to meet new people, develop new skills, gain experience and become part of our theatre community. We welcome people from all backgrounds and levels of experience to apply.
To be successful, our volunteers are asked to:
- Be reliable
- Be approachable and deal with patron’s enquiries in a polite manner
- Check tickets and help patrons to their seats
- Resolve minor issues on the spot or direct patrons to other members of the team who can help
- Support the smooth running of events
- Apply our policies to aid patron satisfaction and enjoyment
- Assist in building evacuations and incidents
- Maximise our income by selling merchandise and kiosk items
- Make the most of training and support opportunities
- Respect confidentiality
- Be an ambassador for our theatre
- Share enthusiasm for our theatre
Opportunities to work on kiosk, selling merchandise or welcome hosting are also available as part of this role if you wish.
