The Access Project supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition, coaching, and in-school mentoring. We work with young people to make good applications, get the grades and transition to university.
At The Access Project, our mission is to support students from under-resourced backgrounds to overcome barriers to opportunity. We partner with secondary schools and colleges across the country, who share our belief that young people with high potential should be given the best preparation possible for the transition to higher education and the world of work.
We are looking for volunteer coaches to work with young people aged 16-18, leading one-to-one sessions from January to June 2026. All coaching sessions take place online, allowing you to volunteer at a time that works for you.
In this role, you will:
- Help young people develop essential skills, setting them up for success at university and in the workplace
- Pass on valuable insights and spark interest in your area of expertise, drawing on your own professional and personal experience
- Strengthen your coaching skills through comprehensive training and ongoing development opportunities
- Make a tangible impact on young people’s ability to raise their aspirations and achieve social mobility
No prior coaching experience is necessary to get involved - we provide comprehensive training and support, and we are committed to supporting your progress as a coach throughout your time volunteering with us.
Interested? Please complete the enquiry form and you will then receive a link to our application form - register now to guarantee your place on our 2026 programme.

- Be able to commit to delivering one coaching session per month, per young person between January and June 2026.
