Here at The Kirkwood we provide a range of care and support aimed at improving the lives of people affected by any life-limiting illness in our local communities. We are extremely fortunate to have the support and commitment of over 800 dedicated volunteers who work alongside staff in a variety of roles and departments. The Kirkwood Team work tirelessly to support people to improve their quality of life; remain as independent as possible; and maintain their dignity until the very end. Families and loved-ones are also supported during the illness and in bereavement.
We couldn't do what we do without our loyal volunteers! We aim to offer the very best volunteering experience, including a comprehensive induction; an annual education & training programme; long-service awards; and volunteer & staff celebration events. We'd love to hear from you if you can spare some of your time to help Kirkwood care and extend its reach to others that could benefit from the services we provide.
As a Kirkwood volunteer, you will be helping us to provide care to people from your own community who are affected by a life-limiting illness. A little of your time can make a massive difference to what we can achieve! Is it your time to make a difference? We hope to hear from you soon!
This role is available at any of our Furniture shops which are located at:
394 Bradford Road, Huddersfield HD2 2QZ
337 Wakefield Road, Moldgreen HD5 8DE or
Foldhead Mills, Huddersfield Road, Mirfield WF14 8BE
Primarily the role involves cleaning and moving furniture when required in line with Health & Safety requirements.
Secondary, the role involves, engaging and, serving customers, arranging merchandise, processing sales transactions, preventing theft, ensure stock levels are maintained, keeping the sales floor neat and organised, and assisting customers to and from their vehicles with donations.
We are keen to hear from anyone who has:
- Physically fit to move furniture in line with Health & Safety requirements
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work within a team environment
- A desire to support the Kirkwood
And who are:
- Reliable and consistent
- Helpful and dependable
- Able to volunteer within defined role boundaries
- Willing to undertake training
You will be a valued member of the Kirkwood team.
