Towpath Taskforce Huddersfield Broad Canal (Huddersfield)
- Gardening/Environment/Practical

- Huddersfield
- Thursday Daytime
We are a charity that cares for 2000 miles of waterways. We believe life is better by water and we're working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. We know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions .Our work involves not only looking after our waterways, but promoting them widely to the eight million plus people who have waterways on their doorstep so that many more people benefit from our free, accessible and local source of wellbeing
Join us on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month between 10am and 1pm for an enjoyable day’s work on the beautiful Huddersfield Broad Canal. Tasks will vary and change with the seasons – tasks could include lock maintenance, painting, vegetation management, planting, towpath repair, wildlife habitat improvements and much more. All tools and equipment will be provided, together with expert and friendly support. Volunteer Team Leader, Rik Battye will be delighted to see you there. Please feel free to attend any or all sessions.
The Towpath Taskforce offers a great way to meet other local Trust volunteers and colleagues, learn new practical skills, hear about other volunteer opportunities or just spend a few hours outdoors improving your local waterway environment. All safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day, you just need to be willing to get stuck in and get dirty. We advise that you wear old clothes and protective footwear if you have some.
We welcome people of all abilities & backgrounds to our sessions. Whilst we aim to make all of our sessions accessible to all, some of our locations are more difficult to reach for anyone with access requirements. Please feel free get in touch if you would like to discuss any support you may need.
