INTERFAITH WEEK  & NOVEMBER 2024 IN NORTH KIRKLEES

Roses for Peace initiative in its 7th Year. White roses will be given out to 1250 different people in six towns between 12th & 16th November. Contact us at nkinterfaith@gmail.com if you would like to  give us a hand or find out more.

Free Open Meeting at Whitley Lower Community Centre Nurturing Respect & Tolerance The day will be led by Dr Chris Hewer, a Christian Theologian who also has a thorough understanding of Islam which is respected by local Muslims. Short personal testimonies invited for you to share experiences of disrespect or exemplary behaviour. There will be lots of time for discussion. Everyone is invited. In the week after Interfaith week North Kirklees Interfaith have been invited to the Springfield & Pioneer sites of Kirklees College in Dewsbury to explore the challenges & opportunities faced by students whose first language is not English.

Schools Interfaith events

‘Autumn Festivals’: An Interfaith online event for primary pupils on Thursday November 21st. This is an opportunity to learn about some of the festivals celebrated in Autumn, and to meet members of local faith and belief communities in an online Q and A.

Group aims and Objectives

  • Improve relations and understandingbetween people of all faiths and none in North Kirklees.
  • Improve the quality of life of local people by working together on agreed projects and in other ways approved by NKI in order to demonstrate our commitment to partnership working.
  • Work towards racial & religious equality in all areas of life.
  • Influence decision making in public life by forming links with statutory and voluntary bodies.
  • Initiate projects as agreed by NKI and to obtain funding as required.
  • Share concerns and to provide mutual support.
  • Promote the positive role of religious faith in daily living.
  • Ensure full and proper dissemination of information and improve communication links
  • Be aware of and support projects improving mutual understanding or meeting the needs of the local community
