Take Action, Save Lives: Summer 2025 Youth Safety Campaign

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), MI5, and the National Crime Agency (NCA) have issued their first ever joint warning to parents and carers, urging them to help keep children safe online over the summer holidays.

Key points:

  • Rising risk: 39 children aged 17 or under were arrested for terrorism offences in 2024 (16% of total arrests).
  • Tactics used: Extremists are targeting and grooming vulnerable young people via mainstream social media and gaming platforms.
  • What parents/carers can do:
    • Talk to children about their online activities and who they’re speaking to.
    • Be as vigilant online as you are about their activities outside the home.
    • Use resources such as Internet Matters for practical safety advice.
    • Report extremist material at gov.uk/report-terrorism.
    • Seek early help if worried about radicalisation – visit ACT Early for confidential guidance.

Ways to support the campaign:

  • Share CTP’s posts on  FacebookInstagram and LinkedIn.
  • Use campaign assets in your newsletters, websites, or social channels.
