VCSE conversation with Mayor Tracy Brabin 7th July

To VCSE colleagues

A group of representatives from the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (third sector) in West Yorkshire and Harrogate – including representatives from each place (Bradford District and Craven, Harrogate, Calderdale, Kirklees, Wakefield and Leeds) and colleagues from WYCA and the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, have been working together with the aim of strengthening the position of the sector in the new devolution arrangements for West Yorkshire.

The new role of an elected Mayor for West Yorkshire presents a timely opportunity to ensure that the vital role of the voluntary and community sector in West Yorkshire is at the heart of the region’s ambition to be a great place to live and work.

Mayor Tracy Brabin has set out her key pledges for her first 100 days in office here: https://tracybrabinmetromayor.laboursites.org/pledges/

With responsibility for some of the key factors that enable all citizens to lead healthier lives and experience better life chances – the role of West Yorkshire Mayor will be influential in the work and causes of our voluntary and community sector in the region.

On 7th July Leeds Community Foundation will be hosting an online conversation with the Mayor and we have the chance to ask Mayor Brabin some direct questions about how she will use her time in office to support our work and champion the sector.

If you would like to submit a question to the Mayor about how she will use her platform to support the work of voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations, please send your questions to  Rachel@leedscf.org.uk by Monday 21st June.
