TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

Latest Opportunities
- Kirklees Rural (Colne Valley, Holme Valley, Kirkburton & Denby Dale)
- Tuesday Evening
At Kirkburton Uniformed Groups, Scouts and Guides meet in the heart of Kirkburton. We also host our annual beer festival, KirkburtonFest to support local charities and fundraise for the Scouts and Guides.
We currently have 6 Scout and Guide sections Providing valuable skills and experiences to young people from ages 6 to 18.
We don’t run a youth club.
We build character.
At Kirkburton Beavers, our young people learn confidence the practical way — through outdoor adventure, teamwork, and trying things they didn’t think they could do.
From campfires and den building to leading their lodges and supporting their friends, everything we do is about helping them grow into capable, resilient young people.
The Role
I’m looking for people to join our Beaver Leadership Team.
This is about being hands-on where it matters:
- Supporting weekly Beaver meeting
- Helping run games and outdoor activities
- Encouraging young people as they try new skills
- Supporting and guiding lodge groups
- Helping create a positive, adventurous environment
You’d be part of a small, supportive team — sharing ideas, helping sessions run smoothly, and building something meaningful for the young people in our care.
Who This Might Suit
- Parents who want to be part of what their child experiences
- Adults who enjoy working with young people
- Anyone looking to build leadership or mentoring skills
- People curious about volunteering but unsure where to start
You don’t need prior Scouting experience — just patience, a sense of humour, and a willingness to get stuck in.
When We Meet
Tuesdays · 6:00 – 7:00pm
There are also optional opportunities throughout the year — camps, outdoor events, and district activities — if you’d like to get more involved.
Why Volunteer?
