TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

Co-operative Care Colne Valley is a not-for-profit domiciliary care provider. Our Vision is to make the Colne Valley a place where high-quality social care and community service are accessible to all and where being a carer is a good career.
Our objectives are to treat people we care for as valued individuals and strive to provide them with the best quality care possible, to involve the people we care for and their families in making decisions about their care and how the service is run, to ensure people remain active members of the community, and to reward, value and support staff with favourable working terms and and conditions, training opportunities and career progression.
At Cooperative Care Colne Valley we offer a holistic care and support service to people in their homes. We also want to be able to enhance and enrich all aspects of a person’s life beyond the care and support we provide, by developing a volunteer service of Community Friends to visit people in their homes to chat, help them access the community and share mutual interests.
The people who use our services at Co-operative Care Colne Valley come from varied and individual walks of life. They are of all age groups and have many different interests. We will match up our Community Friends with the people who want to access the volunteer service to ensure that conversations run smoothly, and interests are shared.
Some of the people who use our services are less able to access the community in ways that we all take for granted, however enabling them do so can greatly enrich their lives.
Some people don’t see anybody other than paid care staff from day to day, and a friendly chat can completely change their experience.
The role will typically involve:
- Regular Conversation around person’s interests
- Discussion around the person’s needs at home and outside
- Accompanying on walks
- Accompanying to appointments
- Shared leisure activities; e.g. reading, gardening, knitting, visiting shops, libraries, pubs
