TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees

This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.

We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly.  Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

About the Organisation

Kirklees Libraries are increasing reading and literacy, improving digital access and literacy, supporting everyone to achieve their full potential, supporting everyone to live healthier and happier lives, enabling greater prosperity, building stronger more resilient communities, offering everyone access to culture and the opportunity to be creative. Volunteering opportunities are varied and include storytelling, supporting events, helping with crafts, gardening, running Lego and code clubs, admin role e.g. secretary, chair and planning rotas for Friends of groups and many more. If you want to make new friends, get out and keep active, support your community or gain new skills we have something for you.

Role Description

What will you do?

Support learners as they build essential IT skills & gain confidence using technology for everyday tasks. Guide them in exploring the internet safely & effectively whilst getting comfortable using their own digital devices.

If you love helping others & want to share your knowledge, we’d love to hear from you.

We are only able to offer travel expenses for attending training, so please volunteer at a Library near to where you live,

By volunteering you can enhance the lives of others by supporting the service to: increase reading and literacy; improve digital access and literacy; support everyone to achieve their full potential; support everyone to live healthier and happier lives; enable greater prosperity; build stronger, more resilient communities; offer everyone access to culture and the opportunity to be creative.

 Anything else you should know?

  • You will need one referee to provide a character reference. This could be an employee, teacher, social worker etc
  • An induction to the service and appropriate training will be provided
  • The time commitment could be delivering 1:1 sessions or scheduled drop-in sessions as necessary
  • Travel expenses can be claimed if required to attend training sessions but not for volunteering>
  • You can select the library within which you would like to volunteer and this may be more than one
